Inspired by Heather's list of food that she hates I've decided to make a list of just general things that I hate.

Number one is Janis Joplin. God, I hate Janis Joplin. I especially hate that godawful Mercedes Benz song which someone pointed out was a cover the other day but that didn't make me hate her or the song any less. I wish Janis Joplin would drop dead.

Number two is throwing up. Throwing up is for the birds. Why can't it be more pleasant? All that acid coming up and the gagging and the loss of control of your digestive system? No thanks dude. Not into vomiting at all.

That's all that comes to mind right this second.

Everyone who reads this regularly knows that I have a Sudan bent. Here's yet another article.

The New York Times has given more than 10,000 words to stories that mention Darfur since May 23, says Lexis-Nexus.

In the same period, the paper has devoted at least 17,000 words to stories mentioning Paris Hilton.

Things in New York have gone pretty insane as of late. Let's recap:

Yesterday a man shot himself on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Woman faints and gets hit by a subway train.

Guy gets shot in the head and killed on the subway.

This is not even getting into the model/actress/shooting victim who got shot a few weeks ago.

Pretty much totally unrelated to this is this link to accidents that happened on the "L" in Chicago.

And THIS site rules. Nothing quite like the dark side of the subway way...

New York Subway Accidents here.

I don't know why the subway fascination here as of late.

Alright, alright, it's true. I haven't been on my game here at Ye Olde Joshe Reynoldse Blogspote. So if anyone has any doubt about what will motivate me it should now be clear that peer pressure works pretty well indeed.

I just finished reading some really great books by Jim Knipfel who is blind guy who writes columns for the New York Press. He got me to thinking about being blind and although I have nothing deep to share with you(That's a surprise-ed.) I did see a guy on the subway yesterday with a cane and pin saying "I am deaf and blind" making me wonder how he knew what his stop was. Then I remembered that Knipfel brought up the fact that 90 percent of the blind world isn't totally stone blind and that although they have a cane etc... many can see some but just in a very impaired way. I figured this must be the case with this guy since he didn't seem to have any trouble knowing it was Nevins St. when we got there.

Pistons beat Lakers and thank God for that. The Lakers looked awful during the series and if Kobe and Shaq were to ride the team bus off a cliff that would really be ok with me. Wherever you are Justy, I know you are happy.

Dave, when you say clutch hitting exactly what do you mean? Please define clutch hitting for me. I am a statistical analysis subscriber so I'd like to open up a little blog to blog baseball talk.

I'll leave out the asinine conversation the office was having about whether "Redskins" was a deregotary name for the sports team to use and just go straight to the Genius' assertion that the word "Yankee" comes from "John's Cheese". ???

Lots of news.

The 'Plants have finally recorded for their upcoming release "The Day that Reagan Died" and the stuff sounds great! Unfortunately, there is word of another "The Plants" in Brooklyn so we may be undergoing another name change to The Ants.

Reagan. Dead. So far I've gotten some interesting takes on this from Erin's "Now you have to shotgun a beer! That's the deal!". It was? Sterling went on a songs about Reagan binge and Marya brought up the fact that Reagan was the president of our youth and his death was finally evidence that our childhood had ended.

I saw Troy the other day. Wow, it sucked. I don't think I've ever seen more bodies burned on a pyre than I did in that film. All I could think was that the smell must be terrible.

CEOcast Bloopers!

Josh: May I speak with Dave Katt please?
Receptionist: Mr. Katt passed away last week.
Josh: I guess that would make it hard for him to come to the phone!

I have no idea why that was my response instead of "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.". She wasn't appreciative. It's incidents like these that illustrate to me why customer service isn't really my bag.

More..

Josh: Hi Susan. I don't know if you remember me, but we spoke a few months ago about the possibility of having Gary Marino on for an interview with us.

Susan: Gary Marino doesn't work here anymore.

Josh: Oh. I suppose I won't have him on for an interview then.

Susan. No. We should have a new CEO in the third quarter.

Josh: Really? Well, thanks Susan. You've been super helpful!

Here I was, as I like to say, trying to let the other person hear the smile rather than the sigh in my voice but I think it came off a little fake. I guess that's not a surprise since I was kind of lying.

After the Bell Outside the Comfort Room

Someone from Spellbound has a blog!

Tuesday, June 01, 2004

Ok, I'll post this closer to time as well, but 6/30 things are going to get a little crazy at Freddy's.

Yes, it's a SPELLING BEE!!!

Remember Elementary school... Recess, paste, big pencils, and let's not forget spelling bees. Aaah yes, the spelling bee. Remember being lined up in front of class and having to spell q-u-a-d-r-u-p-l-e before you even knew what that was? Why did Timmy have to be so smart?! Well now is your turn to show off your spelling smartie smarts and perhaps even win a few bucks while you are at it!

Come on down to Freedy's June 30th to the First Annual Spelling Bee - hosted by Host-Extraordinaire Josh Reynolds!

Here's the deal-i-o: To enter, you pay 1 dollar which goes into the pot, then at the end of the Bee, winner takes all! You know, in addition to the bragging rights...

Who: You! Your friends! Their Friends!

What: um, Spelling Bee. Have you been reading this?

When: 8pm

Where: Freddy's, 485 Dean Street - (That's the corner of Dean Street and 6th Avenue in Brooklyn - call them 718.622.7035)
Why: Because you so want to!

Also, the national spelling bee started today.

Look, I like juvenile humor as much as the next guy but am I supposed to really laugh when Jim points out that there is a convenience store called kum n' go? I mean, he was laughing it up hard. In fact, he's still talking about it to himself right now.
